“The history of natural selection” was developed as part
of a course on “learning objects” offered at the Ohio
State University. Learning objects are pieces of
information that can be reused and repurposed in
different contexts.

We divided our lesson on Darwin into three levels (material,
activity, and assessment). Information provided at all three
levels were free-standing and independent. One could
pull out any of these three sections and reuse it in a
different context without losing its educational value.
